According to the American Dental Association, or ADA, dentists around the country are reporting that cases of teeth grinding and other issues related to jaw-clenching have increased this year. The study showed that the pandemic of Covid and the resulting economic worries are fueling the trend. The Presidential election has not helped the situation also, creating significant stress among the American population.
Teeth grinding and clenching can cause significant pain in the jaw and cause tension headaches/migraines. Botox therapy for TMJ pain has been shown to significantly reduce this discomfort and decrease the amount of grinding/clenching one can do. Botox therapy in conjunction with an occlusal guard and some basic medications can help patients who have been experiencing a pandemic related pain due to stress.
